The teachers at Rocking Horse Nursery School believe that children retain more when they are having fun.  Our program emphasizes learning through play.  Our curriculum is themed based and presented in a manner that allows for in-depth explorations and learning.  Our teaching approach allows all the children to grow at their own rate and helps each child to develop his/her own unique qualities and characteristics.  A child's day is filled with a healthy mix of learning and play, regardless of their age.

Emotional support

     Our teachers truly love working with children.  Each child is provided with affection and support.  We also encourage autonomy in each child and cooperation within the classroom.

Social Skills

     Rocking Horse provides children with the environment to build self-esteem, self-control and self-awareness.  Throughout their day they are given many opportunities to meet their individual needs.

Physical Activity

     Rocking Horse ensures that children are encouraged to move indoors and outdoors.  Our day consists of activities such as yoga, music and creative movement class, and a wide variety of other gross motor play.

Health Education

     As children learn about their bodies and themselves, we encourage them to assume responsibility for hand washing, toileting and safety skills.  We also discuss healthy eating habits and offer nutritious snacks.
